Brio Leisure TicketSource


Brio Leisure manage sports facilities and performance venues across Cheshire, offering a wide range of recreational activities. We spoke to Phil Harding, Entertainment Manager, to find out how TicketSource's ticketing platform helps them to deliver their events.

What is Brio Leisure? 

Brio Leisure is a community interest company wholly owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council. We operate leisure centres, entertainment halls and playing pitches at eleven locations in both urban and rural settings. Our motto is ‘At the heart of life’, and we exist to improve the general wellbeing of people living in and visiting the area by providing opportunities for affordable, accessible and fit-for-purpose leisure activities.

For what sort of events do you use TicketSource?

We use TicketSource for our entertainment programme, focussed on three multi-purpose venues – Ellesmere Port Civic Hall, Neston Civic Hall and Northwich Memorial Court. From panto to wrestling, ballet to comedy, magic to music, we have something to suit all ages, tastes and budgets. All bookings are handled through TicketSource – the box office system really delivers for us.


Why did you choose TicketSource?

The previous system we used was crumbling and needed upgrading. The costs of refreshing the software were too high, so we looked elsewhere. Several of our hirers already used TicketSource and recommended it to us. Initially, we thought of TicketSource as a stopgap before returning to proprietary box office software, but we have been using TicketSource for several years now and it has been wonderful.


How does TicketSource meet your needs?

TicketSource is incredibly reliable. We have experienced next to no downtime over the years, and no technical issues. The system is so intuitive and we love it – we don’t have a dedicated box office team, but we trained our receptionists in less than ten minutes and I trust any of the staff to set up events. On top of this, TicketSource has the best support team we have ever dealt with, without exception across all the software we use in our operations. You simply phone up and your query is dealt with there and then.


Which features have you found most helpful?

The adaptability to include in-house sales. Very few online systems allow in-house sales without extra fees, and it’s a real bonus for us to offer face-to-face sales to our customers. We also use the free TicketSource telephone box office service. Due to our sporadic opening hours, our biggest worry was how to offer regular purchasing opportunities to customers. The TicketSource service is the ideal solution and works really well.


What advice would you give to other event organisers who are considering using TicketSource? 

Before opting for TicketSource, I signed up and set up a test account and played a lot with the system. This gave me a good feel for how it all works, and convinced me to choose TicketSource for our events.
