Increasing event revenue with merchandise

Selling additional items alongside your tickets gives you the ability to create a buzz of excitement prior to the big day and enables you to maximise your event revenue. You may already be selling items at the event, but selling in advance enables you to promote these items as an additional way of garnering interest in your event.

Event appropriate items

The merchandise you offer should be relevant to the event, and cater to what attendees are likely to want from the event experience. If you are putting on a theatrical performance and have a licensed bar on-site, you could give customers the opportunity to pre-order their interval drinks, to save queuing on the night.

Hosting sports events? You could enable customers to pre-order half-time snacks. You benefit from the extra sales and your customers don't need to worry about carrying cash and missing the start of the second-half whilst waiting in the queue.

For comedy acts or music events, customers will no doubt want to buy merchandise. With the Sundry option, you can dramatically reduce queues at the merch stand by giving customers the option to order their goodies in advance. You can manage your stock in advance and customers will appreciate not having to choose between queuing for the bar and queuing for the merchandise stall during the short interval.

Pantomimes and festive events often have accompanying souvenirs, so you could take this opportunity to pre-sell those programmes ahead of the big event, or even to pre-sell souvenir magic wands for the kids!

Offering meals at your event? By adding sundry options, you could list the meal options during the booking process and customers can choose the meal they want at the time of booking. You will then be able to advise the chef of the orders coming through well in advance of the event.

Consider offering packages

Sometimes a little extra incentive could be all it takes to entice customers to make a ticket purchase. Offering discounted items when purchased with tickets, or items bundled into the ticket price could encourage customers to take advantage of the deals you have on offer.

Promote your add-ons

When you promote your tickets online, don't forget to promote your merch too. Customers can then be made aware of what you have to offer and can choose to buy alongside their tickets or wait until the event and buy on the night. 

Sell on the day too

If it's feasible, be sure to also offer your additional items on the day, as those who couldn't or forgot to pre-order don't want to feel like they've missed out.
